Bringing the outside in: Batu Caves in Malaysia

Outside In_Kuala Lumpur

The Batu Caves. What a natural wonder! They are 400,000,000 year old chambers underneath limestone hills. The caves are also an incredibly popular Hindu shrine that people travel from all over the world to worship in.

Then there are the monkeys. If you can successfully walk up the 270-something stairs to the top, you will come face to face with these monkeys and if you’re not careful, they will steal your bag and your food. They are so cheeky and very, very clever.

The huge 42m high gold statue of Murugan (a Hindu deity) is made of concrete and steel (250 tonnes of steel, in fact). The gold you see on the outside of the statue is actually 300 litres of gold paint, not gold leaf. It has such a presence- just look at the tiny people at the feet of the statue!

If you want to bring a bit of the Batu Caves into your place, check out the products above!
